my bird is scared …
my bird is scared of the clicker.
when i was small i used to love fire crackers and i lit them all the time the bird was always scared of them and he knew that once i hit the lighter that there will be a explosion. the noise of the clicker is like a lighter so it is scared of this. because of this i substituted a whistle for a clicker and it worked.
My bird is a INDIAN RINGNECK PARROT.

he has another …
he has another video where he says use the ‘power pause’ technique where you reward your bird for making progress by giving it time to its self for a few seconds (like 15 seconds) the try to get closer and slowly progress from there.

Cockatiels work …
Cockatiels work best for millet if it isn’t already in their normal diet.

As for the stepping up consistency, try giving him the choice to step up and don’t force it. If he doesn’t want to and shows warning signs of it, respect it and don’t make him. Once he realizes he has the choice, he will be more willing to step up in the future more often.

my cockatiel likes …
my cockatiel likes coming out sometimes, but other times he doesnt. sometimes he steps up onto my finger when i say “step up” and sometimes he just attacks my finger. i have had him just under a week (he is 11 weeks old), and he attacks millet when i tried to see if i like it. Do you have any tips on how to get him to be more consistant, and how to like the millet? thanks
